Dorothy Watson – APRN-C, CWS CLT

Biography

Dorothy Watson is a board-certified Wound Care Specialist (CWS) certification with the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM) and has been board certified in Wound Care for over 22 years. She is from the island of Jamaica and has dedicated her life to the field of medicine.

She started her path in the field of medicine where she worked as a Registered Nurse for over 20years in various departments including MedSurg and Intensive Care Unit. She has held many roles including staff nursing, charge nurse and case management. She received her Bachelor of Science in Community Health from St. Joseph’s College and her Master of Science in Nursing from Barry University. She furthered her studies with a Post-Graduate Certification as a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner.

One of her personal strengths is empathy and compassion. A provider should genuinely care for patients and express understanding towards their physical and emotional well-being. Her other personal strengths include knowledge and expertise. A provider should possess extensive knowledge, experience, and expertise in their respective field of medicine.
In her current role, Dorothy is a role model, team leader and preceptor. She loves what she does and is willing to go the extra mile. She loves to teach and encourages others to climb higher. She is self-directed and assertive. She is not afraid of challenges and likes to include families, staff and caregivers in a partnership circle.
